Website Lies - never in stock can't find "lowest price"

Postby Zadriel » October 24th, 2009, 2:48 pm

Frankly this website only serves to tick people off. I have tried several times to order different items over the last year and each and every time one of two things happened. 1. It advertizes a ridiculously low price range, but low and behold when I input my zipcode... magically its back up to full retail. 2. If I guess at various zips, I usually STILL cannot find it... But when I do the store NEVER HAS THE ITEM.

I was so angry after my last encounter I decided to register finally and post my displeasure.

Store # 1664
Item: 071 24229 991 0261
Sale Price: $114.93
Tracking No:1664-102409-2264

First off when I called her, the girl didn't even know what to make of the "tracking number." Said she had never heard of such a thing before.... and that I should only have one of those if an item had already been shipped to me.

WORSE. When I tell her to get online and go to searsoutlet and look it up herself, she does. Conversations ensue that about every post on this site deliniate.

HER: Uhhh.. Yeah, we don't have ANY of those items.
ME: Its on the sears outlet website and has been for a week. Are you telling me you haven't had this in the past week even?
HER: Uhh. Yeah. I'll check with manager... (Manager's name is EDNA) A few minutes of some awful music... then...
HER: Uhh. Yeah, manager says thats a reconditioned item and we don't have those and we haven't had.
ME: Can I have the managers name please?
HER: EDNA Brosh? OR something like that.

Now Here i am like all the others. What do I expect? Do I expect my item for the price advertized? Not very likely from hearing the other stories on here.

Sure, you can relay my phone number to someone ... a lot of good it will do I'm sure. its 740, TWO SIX TWO, 2172 and my name is keith

Thanx, but I don't expect to see much and I'm probably waisting my time.

(After all weren't we supposed to be able to order online by now? That was promised back in June. AND we were supposed to be able to do a global search of all stores all over the us (without the zipcode crap) back in January.)

Absolutely no website changes yet... and still we have inventory issues like this one.

Likely I'll quit even checking this site, it only servers to make me angry. :x

I appreciate your "follow up with the store" but just as I expected there has been no attempt to help me. From the feedback all over this forum, I honestly don't expect much more. And frankly even if they DO follow up. It seems like usually its a "I'm sorry" at best, if they call at all.

If I may suggest, to alleviate the problem of not believing the low prices being advertised, there should be a feature on the website where you don't need to put in a zip code. You should just be able to see an item, and get a listing of *all* stores that carry the item, not just narrow it down to zip codes.

thank you for your feedback. That is not a current feature due to the fact that this site is a marketing vehicle for pickup in store purchases of the discounted products found on this site. We do not currently have a formal infrastructure in place to support shipping and delivery. We'll pass it on as a possible future enhancement though

You don't need the shipping issue. The only thing your website needs to "show" is that there is/are store/s that actually carry the *low* price that is advertised. Currently, with no store selection, the *low* prices show up, but again, because it is regional. By the time one puts in the zipcode and narrows down the store search, most likely one will not see the *low* price. It's a perception issue for the consumer, and unfortunately, your website makes it feel like you're doing false advertising. FWIW.

I haven't heard anything back. Honestly, I'm kind of giving up. Whats the point? I've really gone the second, third, fourth and fifth mile here and still can't get my hands on a product I'm trying to buy. I really don't know what else I could do about it.

I mean nearly 21 days later, almost a month and still unable to purchase the item that was listed on here. Even after intervention. Now the year is growing so much toward winter, I'm not even sure I'll ever be able to use the item -- assuming I'd ever get it. And that apparently is a stupid assumption.

Thanks so much, yes. It arrived, intact. Bob was very helpful. Most stores would have never kept trying so much. That is what sets Sears above the rest and keeps me coming back. I almost lost hope there. But your persistence made it happen. thanks again.
